    General Conditions

Therapeutic Services will be provided in line with legal and professional obligations as outlined by the British Psychological Society (BPS) Practice Guidelines (2017).

Psychological intervention follows an evolving path, unique to each client and his or her life circumstances, which cannot be precisely predicted in advance.

Moray Psychology Services is not a service for people in crisis.  If you are contemplating suicide or believe you are at risk of harming yourself or others please go to Accident & Emergency or contact your local emergency services.

Engagement with my website “moraypsychologyservices.com/.co.uk” does not constitute psychological therapy.

    Fees and Payments

All psychology sessions last 50 mins, and cost £110 per session.

Costs will be reviewed annually and existing clients will be provided with 2 months of advanced notice regarding any price increase.

Payment (or an authorisation code from your insurer), is required within 24 hours of booking to secure your session. After 24 hours, if payment (or a suitable authorisation code) has not been received, the appointment will be cancelled and released for others to book. In the case of booking within 24 hours, payment (or a suitable authorisation code) is required prior to the start of the session. If payment (or a suitable authorisation code) is not received in advance, the session will not go ahead.

Payments can be made by bank transfer. Details will be provided at the time of booking.

    Cancellations

I understand that life can be unpredictable, and will endeavour to offer flexibility in session time and location within the boundaries of my working hours and the terms set out in this document. My cancellation policy exists to support the financial stability of a small business so that I can effectively support my clients.

Any session cancelled with less than 48 hours’ notice, will be charged in full.

If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, I would appreciate this being done in the first instance via our online booking system. In cases where this is not possible (including appointments cancelled with less than 48 hours notice), you can notify me by email.

Clients covered by insurance are liable for any missed appointments/cancellations and will be charged the full session amount directly.

In the rare event that I have to cancel a session, you will be given the option of a full refund or an alternative session.

    Termination of Sessions

If you choose to terminate a session before 50 mins, you will remain liable for the full session, unless by prior written agreement.

You may choose to end or request an ending of therapy sessions without explanation.

I reserve the right to withdraw services for reasons of professional or personal circumstances.

If I feel you are a personal risk to myself or anyone in the immediate environment, I am entitled to terminate the session without a refund. The appropriate services will also be alerted in all cases of violence or personal threats.

    Communication

Between sessions, I can only be reached for the purposes of cancellations and rearrangements with regards to your planned sessions. I am sorry, but it is not possible to provide support in between sessions.

I aim to respond to emails within 2 working days.

    Confidentiality

    Your privacy matters to me.

I will keep all information shared by you during therapy confidential, and will not disclose it to third parties, except in the situations outlined below:

    • If you have provided explicit consent.

    • If there is a legal requirement (including court orders).

    • For safeguarding reasons. Where information shared by you indicates there is a significant risk of harm to yourself or to any other person, I have a duty to disclose this information to the appropriate authorities.

    • To collect unpaid fees – where fees have remained unpaid for a significant period of time, contact details and details of missed appointments and payments may be shared with third party agencies. Where this occurs, you will be informed in advance.

Where possible, I will always seek your consent before any disclosure.

Terms and conditions should be read and understood alongside our Privacy Policy for further information regarding personal data held about you.

You are not permitted to record therapeutic sessions on a phone or other device without written consent from myself.

If I see you in a public setting between sessions I will not acknowledge or disclose our existing relationship as therapist and client, unless you do so. You have the right to protect your confidentiality and I will follow your lead.

    Location Specific Considerations
    Outdoor Sessions

Outdoor sessions will be held in public spaces. If you choose to participate in outdoor sessions you recognise that this environment includes additional challenges to maintaining confidentiality. Every attempt will be made to not engage in private conversations when others are in proximity, but it is not possible to guarantee that conversations will not be heard by others. Prior to any sessions, we will have the opportunity to discuss how challenges to confidentiality can best be supported.

If we encounter someone you know, you have the right to disclose or not disclose that you are in a therapy session. I will follow your lead and make every effort to protect your confidentiality. If we encounter someone I know, to protect your confidentiality, I will not disclose your status as a client or our time together as a therapy session.

Unless by prior agreement, outdoor sessions will begin and end at Elgin Library or the Laichmoray Hotel.

You are responsible for your physical health and safety during outdoor appointments. If you require any adjustments or accommodations to allow you to participate comfortably and safely, please let me know.

Please come prepared for weather conditions. Outdoor appointments will only be cancelled by myself due to the weather if the MET office have issued an amber or red weather warning.

You can request to change the setting of your appointment (to the therapy room or online) at any time, for any reason. Where possible, please provide as much notice as possible and a minimum of 1 hour. Your request will be supported where resources allow, for example, if the therapy room is available.

    Online

During online sessions you are responsible for ensuring sessions are held in a private space.

You are responsible for ensuring you join from a place with a stable internet connection.
